Dr. Germon Miller-Bey, also known as Mama G (Mama Gangsta), is a world-renowned crisis educator, urban safety instructor, 10th degree black belt Afrikan/ Moorish Combat Systems Grandmaster and adjunct college professor who has specialized in juvenile crew arbitration and truancy elimination for 25 years. Between 2006 – 2010, she won 10 Black Belt Championships in weapons and firearm disarmament self-defense against men half her age.
Mama G is also the Akeru Legacy Council founder. For 30 years, The Akeru Legacy Council has integrated crisis intervention, violence prevention, consumer education in employment and volunteer capacities. In 1991, Mama G increased her participation in youth anti-violence programs by establishing the AKERU Discipline Science Program to assist juveniles whose lifestyles were beyond the scope of standard classrooms. Her “sidewalk university” concept was designed to eliminate the stigma associated with teens from impoverished environments.
In 2001, Mama G established the R.I.C.H. (Rebuild Individual Character Habits) curriculum, a continuing education program for young adults at public housing and recreation centers through the City of Columbia, South Carolina to introduce young adults to in-depth information about philosophy, critical thinking, cultural traditions, historical events and mathematical concepts they encounter every day, yet due to lifestyle disruptions, were not able to glean from their standard educational environments.
Over the years, Mama G has gone to the streets to work with 472 (maybe more by now) young people dealing with issues of homelessness, truancy and behavior problems. Many of these young people don’t know what peace is. Join us to learn more about Mama G, her 472 kids, and their peace.
