- What first attracted you to peace activism?
- I was born in the south of the United States in the 1950s (Tennessesse) I learned first hand the power of collective non-violent action to transform society. Having been a teenager during the war in Viet Nam I saw the intransigence of the government and the Military Industrial complex in their determination to wage a war. Once again I saw the power of collective non-violent action to bring about societal transfomation. I see the outcome of direct and intentional policy by the government to distract the people and an educational system which has taught our youth the idea of futility and the ideal of obedient silence. Now, as a result I must take a stand and attempt and succeed to alter the arc of our movement into the future.
