East Point Peace Academy envisions a world in which historic conflict is fully reconciled and new conflict arises solely as an opportunity for deeper growth.
East Point Peace Academy, located in Oakland, CA, works to empower communities by nurturing skills and inspiration to be the agents for change. It offers workshops on nonviolence and conflict resolution to the incarcerated community, law enforcement, young people, movement organizers, violence prevention activists and others. East Point trainers combine the power and theory of Kingian Nonviolence with other methodologies, including meditation and mindfulness.
The first two principles of Kingian Nonviolence are: 1) nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people; and, 2) the beloved community is the framework of the future.
Our guest speaker, Theresa Moran, is a founding member of East Point Peace Academy. She teaches Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation and with her East Point cohorts, leads the Sitting in the River meditation group inside the county jail at San Bruno. The meditation group focuses on Dr. Martin Luther King’s work for guidance. Theresa also teaches Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation for community groups
Join the call to learn more about Kingian Nonviolence, its application within the incarcerated community, and cultivating the principles and steps for building and maintaining beloved community.
We will also talk about recent and upcoming CA and national Peace Alliance events.
