YOUR 2015 PEACE/ OUR 2015 PEACE
January 12, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific Time)
Call-in Number 1-862-902-0250 - Access Code 3698002#
On our call, we will explore visions for our personal 2015 peace and for our shared peacebuilding community 2015 peace.
As we start a new year, the Peace Alliance is also visioning its path for the next few years and is working to tip our nation, and our world, from war and violence to peace. We frequently say a small group of inspired people can turn the tide of humanity toward personal, community, national and global peacebuilding. “This turning tide will solidify and amplify the incredible and innovative accomplishments of ‘peacebuilding’ work that is happening around our nation and world.” The Peace Alliance is dialoguing about how we can make peacebuilding an overarching part on our national identity. We will talk more about this on the call.
Before then, please think about:
As we begin anew with 2015, we will commemorate the Season for Nonviolence (SNV) by seeking Congressional cosponsors for Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s 2015 Department of Peacebuilding Act. We need your help on this. Please see the SNV action information below.
SEASON FOR NONVIOLENCE (SNV) INITIAL ACTION
This 18th annual global Season for Nonviolence is the 64-day period from January 30 - April 4 memorializing the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by focusing on their legacy on peace and nonviolence. As our initial SNV action, on or about January 30th, please contact your own member of Congress and urge him/ her to cosponsor the 2015 Department of Peacebuilding Act (DoP), which will likely be introduced as H.R.808. Tell your member of Congress that we must prioritize violence prevention in this nation and that violence prevention saves lives and money. Urge your member of Congress to cosponsor DoP by contacting [email protected] or 5-2661 in Congresswoman Lee's office.
Please call you member of Congress on or about January 30th. To determine who your member of Congress is, see www.house.gov/representatives/find and/or contact the Congressional information number at 202-224-3121. Working together, we make a difference in creating a culture of peace.
