Great news! New Hampshire supports YPA!
Senator Lasky speaks before the NH Senate in favor of the Youth Promise Act Resolution. Despite opposition spoken on the floor, the Senate voted to support the HR 1064 Resolution!!! Next it will go before the Governor for signing, then off to Washington with our blessing!

Dear Peacebuilders,

Your calls and emails have been effective! The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-2 in favor of HCR 24 and has sent the Resolution to the full Senate with an "Ought to Pass" recommendation!!! See below. We have been informed that it is not likely that the Resolution will be heard before the lunch recess, so, if you are going to attend, plan to be there between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

In the meantime, please call or email your senators and urge them to vote for H.C.R. 24.

THE SENATE WILL MEET IN SESSION ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2010, AT 10:00 A.M.

JUDICIARY
HCR 24, supporting the Youth PROMISE Act.
Ought to Pass, Vote 3-2.
Senator Lasky for the committee.

In Peace and Appreciation,
Kathleen Boyer
Youth PROMISE Act Coordinator

The Youth PROMISE Act Resolution (HCR 24) having the support of the state House of Representatives "crossed over" to the NH Senate. On April 21, 2010, Professor Barbara Thorngren along with representatives from Nashua Community College's Peace and Social Justice program, the Boys and Girls Club and NH DoP Coordinators testified before the NH Senate Judiciary Committee in favor of the Resolution. It is presently in the Executive Committee of the Judiciary for further review.

The Student Peace Alliance initiated its annual Valentine's Day Action for Youth PROMISE Act
This year SPA will be focusing on bringing Senators onto the Youth PROMISE Act (S. 435). There are already over 230 cosponsors in the House of Representatives so now attention turns to the Senate. Call in support of our youth!

NH_ Children and Family Law Executive Committee votes to support the Youth PROMISE Act, 16 to 1. The Chairwoman cited the "compelling testimony" and with no further discussion, the Resolution was recommended to be brought before the State House of Representatives. It will appear on the Consent List for recommended passage (barring any last moment opposition), within the next two weeks.
