Congratulations to Phineas Washer of San Antonio! My mother who lives there just emailed me a scan of a letter to the editor Phin wrote that was published in the Sunday paper. Here's a copy of the content, which I copied from the San Antonio Express News website:

Dept. of Peace?
Sandy Alonzo, whose husband, Mike, a postal service employee, was shot to death as he returned home the night of July 18 and about whom Cary Clack wrote so movingly last Sunday, says she “would like to be part of a movement that stops that kind of senseless violence that took the [life] of Mike.”
To Sandy and others with a similar focus, legislation (HR 808) is before Congress to create a Department of Peace. Its goal is to “reduce and prevent violence,” and a bevy of San Antonions are supporting it.

I'm so sad it took this kind of experience to create the opportunity for this letter, and so grateful Phin took the opportunity AND the paper published it!
Hello Texas Peace People, I just moved to Lubbock, Texas to care for my mom, from California and I'm feeling out of my element. Wanted to reach out and touch someone. Bless you all, Namaste, Kundi
