Building City of Peace is feasible. I am working for this idea for last three decades. Now with your site, I get moral support to develop my ideas further to build City of Peace on the ground.

Victim, rebel, or co-creator?

Games People Play: The Psychology of Human Relationships is a 1964 bestselling book by psychiatrist Eric Berne. This book catalogs a series of "games" in which people interact through a patterned and predictable series of "transactions" which are superficially plausible (that is, they may appear normal to bystanders or even to the people involved), but which actually conceal motivations, include private significance to the parties involved, and lead to a well-defined…

Release my heart

Achieving peace has always seemed like a struggle,
a journey up an endless hill, but
what if
it were effortless,
as in a letting go,
a falling into
wholeness and community?

As soon as the peace dilemma is re-framed as
our personal need to uncover
— release —
our ability to respond
to our frustration, anger, or sadness
with creative solutions,
that problem…

A First.

I just have to tell someone! Today in the parking lot at the grocery store a woman approached my car, NOT to talk about the car but the DEPARTMENT OF PEACE sign I always have had flying behind me for over a year and a half. Most people pretend to not notice that it's there.

A sign of Spring in the peacemaker's world....

A bridge to peace and survival

A friend of mine asked for some brief ideas on “Where do we go from here?” Oftentimes the best way to see the path forward is to start from the distant goal and ask what has to happen before that, and before that, etc. Starting from the top goal and working backwards to the more immediate goal, this is my crazy idea for a bridge to world security: Some day in the near future, within our lifetime: The U.S. Congress authorizes and funds a Department of Peace or something like it, perhaps… Continue

Hey David,

I live in Portland. I'm already in contact with Justice, Danielle and Ken Bryan, I'm moreso curious if there are any projects me and some people from the Student Peace Alliance at my school can engage in over the summer.

6/7/09 Dear David,
Thank you for your activism for peace.
For the last 4 years I have organized the Search For Peace Art Exhibit, held physically on the west side of Portland at the St. Pius X Community Center early in March, often on the same weekend as the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Our web site is http://www.searchforpeaceart.org/
I have found that having a Department of Peace lawn sign is effective in sensitizing people to think about Peace. One person told me, “You are the Ambassador of Peace,” because he had seen me and the sign when he drove past.
This year the Search or Peace weekend is evolving, possibly to a Search For Peace and Justice. If there is no justice, peace will not last very long, and peace may not even occur in the first place without justice.

Perhaps the Department of Peace could have a table and/or speakers at the new Search For Peace and Justice. The St. Pius X Community Center in Cedar Mill, west of Portland, is currently scheduled for this event for the March 5-7, 2010.
Peace,
Mary

I totally understand where you are coming from! With so many social networking sites, it can be pretty demanding of our time. Our hope with building this site, this network, is that all the members of the Department of Peace Campaign can gather here for all of their needs, instead of in a several different places. To make things easier for you, I would encourage you to redirect people in your Facebook group and various blogs to this central site. It will give them a chance to see what other people throughout the country are doing as well.
