What first attracted you to peace activism?
I was born in The Netherlands to a Dutch mother and a Ghanaian father, and I was educated in the U.S. Growing up in a transnational environment opened my eyes to global issues and opportunities. This exposure has led me to aspire to help the greatest number of people in the most profound way possible, and my studies in the field of Government at Harvard combined with my experience in grassroots activism at The All Stars Project - a national youth development nonprofit - have convinced me that multilateral, international cooperation is crucial in the pursuit for widespread prosperity. Further, war is a barrier to prosperity and development. People cannot live fulfilling lives if they feel that violent conflict constantly threatens their safety, and public funds aimed to develop conflict zones will likely be ineffective. Furthermore, private investors do not generally operate in such zones. Thus conflict resolution and peace-building efforts are imperative measures for advancing the wellbeing of global citizens.
