Empowering civic activism toward a culture of peace.
I thought I'd share an uplifting article that came through the internets this week. Creative, thoughtful, caring people have come up with an alternative to gang membership that benefits youth and the surrounding community by getting at-risk youth into agriculture. http://local.sandiego.com/news/agriculture-program-helps-latino-you...
sweet thanks for sharing
California gets things right once in a while. Good food and healthy youths!! It doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for the info Ted.
This is a great way for kids to be part of a meaningful community while being actively involved with peace instead of violence. I hope other communities take note. Thank you for posting it.
In solidarity of peace,
Thanks for bringing attention to this transforming work! Jimenez's peacebuilding program with youth should be headlined in newspapers, nationally, and could become one of the many domestic projects coordinated by a U.S. Department of Peace!
So many good people doing good work. Thanks for the reminder!
A most creative solution. The child in the picture looks happy about what he is doing; hopefully many others will prefer that to gangs, violence and detention. Would also be a great work for those in detention, rather than sitting around. Peace and Love, Sarah Preston Tiers
