neighborhood peace
Today, the members of our non profit group, the Order of Mercy, held a neighborhood street clean up as we have done several times in the past two years. People who live in the area joined in when they saw us, picking up trash and sweeping away broken glass. We also met some members of a spiritual group who had just moved in and were giving a concert this evening. It was wonderful to meet people who care about keeping our streets clean, safe and loved (we live on the edge of a notoriously dangerous neighborhood).
It is our hope that this spirit of peace, togetherness and change will grow out from our street to the next and the next and so on, like a contagious healing of peace throughout the world. Our purpose is to bring reality to the old saying "Charity begins at Home" and as Gandhi said, "We must be the Change we wish to see."
